Some Vermont legislators question if closing the Derby and Rutland Public Answering Points (PSAPs) will really save the state $1.7 million as Gov. Peter Shumlin and Public Safety Commissioner Keith Flynn anticipate.

The Vermont Legislatureâ€™s House Education Committee is considering a bill that would eliminate small school funding on the basis that the grant is redundant. If the bill is enacted into law the Orleans Central Supervisory Union (OCSU) and North Country Supervisory Union (NCSU) would lose $480,459 and $684,087 respectively in FYâ€™16.

SO. BURLINGTONâ€“the North Country Falcons squared off against the Rice Green Knights with a chance to advance to the Division I boy's hockey semi-finals on Saturday night.
Unfortunately for the boys in maroon it was not to be their night, as the Green Knights held North Country scoreless on their way to a 5-0 win.
ORLEANSâ€“After a tight start that saw both the Lake Region Lady Rangers and Milton Yellowjackets score just 37 combined points, Lake Region would up their game in the second half, as they came away with the 45-34 win on Friday night to advance to the Division II semi-finals that will take place Monday night at the Barre Auditorium.
WOODSTOCK--It all went down in the Woodstock Union High School gymnasium Saturday night, as the No. 7 Craftsbury Lady Chargers went on the road and fell to No. 2 Whitchester (Whitcomb-Rochester) Lady Hornets in a D-IV quarterfinal play-off game.
