Driver In 2013 Fatal Crash Gets Suspended Sentence

NEWPORT CITY – The driver of a truck that collided with a car and killed a 72-year-old Island Pond woman was given a six-to-12-month suspended sentence and three years of probation Wednesday in the Criminal Division of Orleans Superior Court.

Students Compete In Spelling Bee

Christian Cornelius Will Not Face Charges In Homicide

Orleans State’s Attorney Alan Franklin announced Tuesday that he will not charge Christian Cornelius, 31, of Newport with a crime in the homicide of Isaac Hunt.

Newport City Council: Pit Bull Gets Temporary Stay Of Execution

Foiled Female Burglar Arrested In Quebec

DERBY — A Newport woman who tried to bash in a mini mart door with her rifle Friday morning led multiple law enforcement officers in a chase that turned into an international affair. Valentina Velasquez, 31, of Newport is being held in Canada where she is facing several charges.
