ISLAND POND - Students and teachers arriving at school in Brighton Friday morning were greeted with a nasty surprise. Around 2 a.m., someone vandalized the town’s only soccer field by spinning vehicle tires deep into the wet ground. This caused many ruts and unsafe playing conditions.
Brighton soccer team Coach Bill Burns said a home game scheduled for today against Canaan has been postponed, however a tournament scheduled for Saturday at the field is still on. He is hopeful the damage can be repaired by then.

NEWPORT–What a difference a couple of games can make.
When UCA first took on Trinity Baptist, they got walloped by the score of 10-0.
This time it was a complete turn around and the Crusaders barely lost by the score of 1-0 to the Kings.
"I think part of it is being on our fifth game instead of our first," said Coach DeLaBruere, "The first game we came out we played a little scared. We were reacting to the ball instead of playing our game. This game we came out ready to play."

NEWPORT–After being shut-out in back to back games, the North Country girls soccer team came out with guns blazing as they triumphed over Thetford 5-0.
"It was nice to score some goals," said Coach Alexander.
The Falcons got the ball rolling when Cara Worth jumped on a short goal kick by Thetford's Sydney Coulter and found the back of the net fourteen minutes and thirty seconds into the contest.
Noelle Pinard was next on the score sheet when she beat Coulter with a low shot that just barely got under the keeper with 17:38 left to play in the half.
