ORLEANS–Already up six to two after three, the Lady Rangers exploded for seven runs in the fourth, en-route to an 18-3 win over the defending Division III champion Peoples Academy.
"This is the first time we have beaten Peoples in three years, and it is always nice to get a W against someone you haven't beat in a while" said LRU coach Matt Tinker.
Peoples used the three pitchers in the game, with Megan Lamare taking the loss.
Michelle Thibeault went the distance for the Lake Region, fanning 6 and walking just 1.
George–– Donald died April 26, 2013 in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.

April 30th
Four fire departments, an ambulance crew and the Red Cross were called to a fire at the Ethan Allen Plant in Orleans, largely as a precautionary measure, when a fire was reported in the boiler room. The Newport Daily Express will report more of this story as we gather information from our sources.

NEWPORT–For the second straight match, the North Country Falcons got wins from their top three singles players, but unlike their previous contest with Spaulding, they were able to win that elusive fourth match to beat the BFA Bobwhites 4-3 in boys tennis action.
The team will be back in action this Saturday, when they host St. Johnsbury at Prouty Beach at 10:00.

NEWPORT–On Friday, North Country hosted the first of three track meets that will take place at the school this season.
Phoenix Alix, who took second place in the girls high jump, spoke about her day at the track, saying, "It was only my second time doing it (high jump), and when I started, I couldn't jump over anything, so I was pretty pleased with how well I did."
Due to a technical snafu, the results were delayed in getting to the offices of the Express.
Also, thanks to the limited personnel available, and the vacation-induced roster shortages, team results were not kept.
Fortin–– Bernadette Mary, 89, of Derby, VT formerly of St. Johnsbury, VT passed away April 25, 2013 in Derby.
