St. Johnsbury Goes Big in Win Against North Country

NEWPORT–It was a rough Friday of football for the North Country Falcons, as they lost a one-sided contest to the St, Johnsbury Hilltoppers 59-18 under the lights at Veterans Field.
"We started out playing our game and I think we surprised them a little bit," said NCU coach Tim Simoneau. “We are coming across some pretty serious adversity this week with our injuries. I am not making excuses, but it is what it is."

LYNDON CENTER–The North Country Falcons continued their dominance over Caledonia Country-based teams on Saturday, as they came out ready to play from the get-go and picked up a win against the Vikings.
"We were strong from the opening seconds of the game right until the very end," said NCU coach Chantelle Bouchard. "We got the start that we have been looking for these past few games and dominated the whole way. It was a fantastic game to watch."

Lady Chargers Stay in Win Column, Defeat Winooski 2-0

CRAFTSBURY-The Craftsbury Lady Chargers were able to push their win streak to four on Thursday afternoon, as they snuck past the Winooski Lady Spartans by a 2-0 margin.
Craftsbury coach Casey McGill on how the team has kept up their winning ways, “The main thing I’ve been telling the girls is to move up the field as a unit, and us starting to fill those gaps is what has helped us play well consistently.”

Greene Sends Fans Home Happy With OT Winner

NEWPORT–With the skies opening up and raining falling down on the field, North Country forward Morgan Greene scored with 3:13 left in the first overtime session to give the Falcons a huge 2-1 win over the St. Johnsbury Hilltoppers on Thursday afternoon.
"This was amazing and you can quote me on that," said NC coach Chantelle Bouchard. "The girls did not want to give anything up. This is their home and they wanted to win."

North Country Loses Back-to-Back Heartbreakers in OT, More

NEWPORT–Tuesday was a tough night to be a North Country soccer fan.
The Falcons welcomed in Mount Mansfield for an under the lights doubleheader of Division I soccer action, but despite their best laid plans, things did not go the home team's way.
First up was the NCU girls, and prior to the game the Falcons' seniors, Brooke Breault, Kathryn Daigle, Madeline Ferorelli, Emilie Paul and Mykayla Tanguay, were honored for their time with the team.

Late Penalty Kick Sends Cabot Past Craftsbury

CABOT-An intense showdown took place when the Craftsbury Chargers were hosted by the Cabot Huskies in a division IV soccer match.
The Charger dominated early, but would falter down the stretch, allowing 4 goals in the second half en route to a disappointing 4-3 loss.
Early on in the match it became evident that the game would be a tight one, as teams exchanged shots and possession at an even rate.

Falcons Storm Back With Four in the Second to Best MVU

NEWPORT–After a shaky start to their contest against the Missisquoi Valley Union Thunderbirds, the North Country Falcon field hockey team ramped up their game in the second half, scoring four unanswered goals to come away with a 4-1 win to improve to 7-1 on the year.
"In the first half we progressively got better, but that didn't happen until the second time-out, but we played flat," said NC coach Chantelle Bouchard. "I told them that they had to come out and play hard in the second half because we knew (MVU) was coming for blood."

Falcons Brave the Elements at Woods Trail Run in Thetford

THETFORD-You know you’ve built something special when just about every kid who raced for NC cross country at Woods Trail on Sat. had at least one family member attend the XC meet in the pouring down rain with over 3 hours of round trip driving time.
It goes further since a number of the families stayed around longer just to see Samuel Brunnette pick up his 3rd place plaque. Through our trials of miles, we have built a lasting bond.

Lake Region Continues to Roll, Run Over Spartans 6-2

ORLEANS–The Lake Region boys welcomed in the Winooski Spartans on Friday for a little afternoon high school soccer.
With the fall foliage in full bloom behind them, the Rangers quick ball movement, and over all smart play, systematically dissected the Spartans en route to a 6-2 win.
"It was a good match," said LR coach Tom Evans about his overall thought on on the game..
Things were close in the opening minutes of the contest.
The Spartans' players were a quick moving bunch in their own right, and it took the Rangers a little while to adapt to the Winooski brand of soccer.

SWANTON–The North Country field hockey team improved to 6-1 on the year after defeating rivals MVU on Friday afternoon.
"It was a great game," said NC coach Chantelle Bouchard. "MVU has a fantastic field, so the balls flying and the pace of the game was excellent."
Morgan Greene opened up the scoring at the 16:32 mark of the first half.
Brittany Royer added to the lead when she struck with 3:02 remaining in the opening thirty minutes.
Phoenix Alix had the final Falcon goal, scoring mid way through second half.
