UCA Crusaders Fall to Mid-Vermont Eagles 4-2

NEWPORT–The UCA Crusaders boys team was in action on Monday afternoon, playing host to the Mid-Vermont Eagles at Gardner Park.
While the Crusaders showed improvement from their first match with Richford, it would be the Eagles flying a little higher, rallying back from a 2-0 hole in the second half to with the contest 4-2.

Falcons Win Maple Barrel Bowl 47-22, End Winless Streak!

Forget about it.
Yep, that's right, the North Country Falcons football team took their two-year winless streak and kicked it straight through the uprights as they fought for, and rightly earned, a well deserved, and long time coming, 47-22 win over the Lyndon Institute Vikings on Friday night at Veteran's Field.

ORLEANS-Tyrah Urie scored three goals and Jordyn Cowles stopped three shots as the Lady Rangers improved to 2-0 with their win over Enosburg on Friday afternoon.
"We got a lot of contributions from a lot of different players," said LR coach Brad Urie. "We get scoring from up and down the line-up, which only makes us stronger. Our veteran players stepped up and our new players are learning what to do in order to help us win."

United Christian Girls Fall to Rockets 5-0 in Season Opener

NEWPORT–The UCA Lady Crusaders opened play on Thursday afternoon as they hosted the Richford Rockets for a little Division IV soccer action.
While UCA gave it their all out on the field, the end result would be in favor of the visiting Rockets, as Richford came away with a win to move on 1-0 on the young season.
"The girls had an amazing effort,"said UCA coach Lyne Limoges. "We have a lot of new players and we've got our seasoned players and I think they held their own very well."

North Country Starts Season With 3-1 Win Over Montpelier

NEWPORT–The North Country Falcons field hockey team started their regular season off in fine style, as they defeated the Montpelier Solons 3-1 at home on Wednesday afternoon.
"I saw the team from last year, give or take a few girls," said NC coach Chantelle Bouchard, explaining what she saw out on the field on Wednesday. "They played like they wanted to win. They came out here and I said 'We are playing like it is out last game' and that is what they did. I hope this is the start of a phenomenal season."

Falcons Strike First, but BFA Rallies to Earn 1-1 Tie

NEWPORT–The North Country girls soccer team welcomed in the BFA Comets on Tuesday afternoon as the two kicked off their 2014 campaigns.
Devinnie Davis would net her first goal of the season, but BFA rallied back to tie the game with under ten minutes to play in the second, and after overtime settled nothing, the two teams settled for a split.
"I thought we worked really, really hard," said NC coach Jose Batista. "We still have somethings we need to work on, but I thought it was a gutsy performance. We have a lot of people who are banged up, but we will have to play through that."

Falcons Show Improvement in Loss to Milton

NEWPORT-The North Country Falcons kicked off their 2014 football season with a tough 14-6 loss to the Milton Yellowjackets on Friday night.
things got off to great start for the Falcons as a great kick return by Jared Hussey put the Falcons in prime scoring position.
A throw from QB Hunter Stanley to Connor Hogan on the next play sent the senior receiver into the endzone, giving the Falcons their first lead in a long time.
They would hold that lead into the second half before Milton went ahead on QB carry by Tyler Lamphere.

Field Hockey Falcons Returning Bulk of 2013 Roster

NEWPORT–If you look at all of the fall sports teams at North Country, cross country excluded because it is also an individual sport, the group that has had the most success as of late is the Falcon field hockey squad.
They are coming off of back-to-back semi-final appearances, and with just four seniors leaving the team, coach Chantelle Bouchard is hoping to take this year's group on another strong run into the Division III post-season.
"I think because of their experience they know what they are coming up against," said Bouchard of her veteran-heavy squad.

Speed Will be Key for Fresh Faced Falcons

NEWPORT–The 2014 North Country girls soccer team will feature a completely different look from top to bottom, starting with the coaching staff.
Peter Alexander, who has coached along side Jose Batista fro many years has stepped down, and Tracy Muzerall, who has spent the last couple of season as a co-coach of the JV team will by be moving up and assisting Batista this season.

North Country Football Looks to End Two-Year Drought

NEWPORT–Coming back from one winless season is a daunting enough task on its own.
Trying to come back from two consecutive winless seasons is downright terrifying.
However, the North Country Falcons football team and their coaches are showing no fear as they prep for the start of the 2014 campaign.
