Attempted Bedroom Burglary in Derby

July 4, 2012

DERBY - Vermont State Police have reported an attempted burglary at the Lague residence on Ridegehill Drive in Derby.
According to police, a man attempted to punch out a window into a basement bedroom but was confronted by the occupant, Joshua Lague, who was woken by the sound of broken glass. Lague gave chase on foot but the thwarted burglar escaped.
Police believe the burglar may have escaped to a nearby car because evidence suggests a vehicle peeled out, leaving skid marks behind.
The incident occurred around 5 AM Wednesday. The burglar was described as white, about six feet tall, with short brown hair and wearing a black shirt.
