CRAFTSBURY-The Craftsbury Academy varsity basketball teams both had games this past Friday and Saturday, and for the most part, the results were pretty favorable.
Both teams defeated Concord on Friday.
First up it was the girls, who came away with the 66-27 win, led by Janet Bohannon, who had a game-high 28 points.
In the night cap, the boys picked up the 65-52 win.
Chris DeLaBruere had 23 points and 17 rebounds to lead the way, while Austin Massi added 22.
On Saturday, the boys were up first, as they took on Twinfield.
Things did not go as well for the boys on this night, as they tasted defeat for the first time, losing 56-41.
“We came out playing great defense, and we held Twinfield to 5 points in the fourth quarter,” said CA coach Derek Cipriano. “We knew they were a very good rebounding team and tried to limit their second chance points, but they made some adjustments defensively after the first quarter and made it uncomfortable for us.”
Paul Saaman had 16 points in the loss, as the boys move to 3-1 on the year.
The girls had a much better outcome in their game as they handed Chelsea a 42-16 defeat.
“We were firing on all cylinders and really did little wrong in this game,” said CA coach Rick Thomas.
Bohannon had 13 points, and Thalia Thomas 8.
The girls will be in action on Monday against Twinfield, and both teams will face Cabot on Friday night, starting with the girls at 5:30 and the boys at 7:00.
