NEWPORT CITY – This year's Winter Carnival was all about fireworks and ice.
The Newport Recreation Department sponsored the event that took place in Gardner Park Saturday.
The day started with three teams battling to the finish in the Orleans County Citizen Advocacy Winter Golf Challenge. The team SSMC, which consisted of a foursome from Haverhill, N.H. came in first place. Rusty's Electric came in second place and the team from Passumpsic Savings Bank came in third place.
