LOWELL - An armored truck took out a utility pole and rolled onto its side before bursting into flames in Lowell yesterday.
The Vermont State Police, the Lowell Fire Department, and other responders were called to this rollover Thursday morning.
State police say Eric Jones, 43, of Burlington, was driving this Loomis Armored Truck on Route 100 in Lowell when he lost control, went off the east side of the roadway and collided with a utility pole before coming to a rest on the passenger side of the vehicle.
The engine then burst into flames. The driver escaped.
The crash snapped the pole in two.
Jones was driving about 50 miles per hour. Company officials could not be reached as of press time.
