DERBY – There’s no place like the Home, Garden and Recreation Show.
The show takes place Friday, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There will be entertainment, exhibits, seminars and about 50 vendors, some of which will come from outside Orleans County.
“I think they see there is business here; they’re going to try to get some of it,” said show organizer Chris Johansen.
One of the highlights of the show is a chance to win a new 2012 Chrysler 200 Limited from Northpoint Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. Other local dealers will also have displays.
“It should be our biggest so far for little old Newport,” Johansen said of the show. “We have everything from plumbing and heating to automotive to health and recreation. You name it, it’s sort of there.”
The show is now at capacity. “If it’s going to grow, we either need to add on to IROC or decide whether to rent tents and so on,” said Johansen. “We pretty much filled the space.”
There’s been a home show in the Newport area off and on for at least 20 years.
