CRAFTSBURY–Sisters Elaine and Sarah Dunbar each had a goal as Craftsbury Academy defeated UCA 2-0 in playdown action on Wednesday afternoon.
The Chargers controlled play in the early going, and their pressure paid off when Sarah Dunbar opened the scoring, sending a rebound past United Christian goaltender Lydia Samaan.
In the second, with the score still 1-0 CA, UCA picked up their game and started to pressure the Chargers.
But the home team did not buckle, instead mounting their own assault on the UCA net.
Their work paid off when the Crusaders were whistled for a handball inside the 18.
Elaine Dunbar took the PK, burying it to give the Chargers some insurance.
Craftsbury's two goals were enough as they held on for the win and a date with Black River (11-4-1) this Saturday.
Lydia Samaan had 10 saves for UCA, who finished the season with a 3-9-3 record under first year head coach Molly Smith.
Emma Speise stopped two for Craftsbury (8-4-1), who hope to get the upset in the quarterfinals and move on to the semi's.
