STANSTEAD,QE-The North Country boys opened up their 2013-2014 hockey season with a 6-0 win over Greeley High from Cumberland, ME in the second game of the Can-Am Hockey Classic.
After a slow start, the Falcons picked up their game late in the first, as Ross DeLaBruere opened up the scoring with 5:18 left to go.
In the second, North Country kept improving, and they pumped home another three goals to make it 4-0.
Ryan Paul, Ross and Travis Tetreault had the three goals.
In the third, Paul tallied his second of the game and set up Tucker Corrow for the other, and after the horn sounded, NC had their first win of the season.
Chase LaCourse stopped everything thrown his way, including making a real beauty of a save late in the first, to earn the shut-out.
North Country will close out the Can-Am tournament on Saturday, 12-7-13 when they face Alexander Galt at 1:30.
South Burlington won the first game of the evening in overtime, beating Alexander Galt 2-1.
The Rebels will play the Rangers at 11:30 on Saturday.
