JAY-The North Country icemen rallied for a pair of third period scoring plays and knocked off the visiting Middlebury Tigers 2-1 at the Ice Haus atop Jay Peak. It took goals by Ryan Paul and Adam Viens to secure the victory. Falcon junior netminder Chris Bronson kicked out 16 shots to help lock down the Tigers.
The Falcons scored twice in a span of two minutes in the third period to get the equalizer and the lead goal. Logan Fortier led Ryan Paul who went through a pair of Tiger defenders. Paul fired the disk past Middlebury goaltender Nick Brunch knotting things up at 1 all.
Ebin Fournier set up the winning connection as he found Adam Viens in front of the Middlebury cage. Viens deflected the puck into the net with just over five minutes to go.
“I’m happy with our third period play in beating a good opponent,” said Falcon head coach Andrew Roy.
Middlebury dropped to 9-7 while the surging Falcons are now 6-9, having won four of their last five contests.
The boys will take to the ice tonight against Stowe after the girls wrap up their own battle with the Raider girls hockey club.
