NEWPORT – A man accused of sexually touching a minor child appeared in court Tuesday morning to answer a charge of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child.
Judge Howard VanBenthuysen released 32-year-old Craig Farrar of Newport on conditions after Farrar entered a plea of not guilty.
Jennifer Harlow, a detective with the Newport City Police, wrote in an affidavit that Renee Hamel from the Department for Children and Families met with a 42-year-old individual identified in court records as AC. The meeting took place Nov. 30, 2012.
AC told Hamel that two juveniles, identified in court records as Juv. 1, age five, and Juv. 2, age six, were at his home the previous evening. Juv. 1 complained of pain in her private area. Hamel gave her a washcloth so she could clean and asked if anyone touched her, to which she replied Farrar.
