BURLINGTONâWith a team score of 61, The North Country boys track and Field team took home fourth place overall at the Division One State Track and Field meet on Saturday.
"It went down to the wire for third place between us and Colchester," Coach Gary Johnson said.
The team was paced to victory by the efforts of it's short distance runners, specifically Dylan Colombia. Colombia had two second place finishes, the first in the 100M with a time of 11.38, the second in the 200M, coming in in 23.42.
The Falcons 4x100, a team that has been a consistent force all season long, once again picked up a first place finish, this time with a time of 44.34. Nick LeClair, Josh Brien, Brian DeLabreure, and Colombia make up the speedy quartet who will all return next year for another run for the gold. DeLabreuere also did well in the triple jump where his distance of 40-10.75 was good for 4th.
Jason Webster had the other first place finish for North Country as he led the pack in discuss with a throw of 127-1. Webster also took third in the shot put (42-9), finishing one slot higher than teammate Cody Collins (42-7).
"It is really exciting to see the 4x100 have a great run, and to see Jason Webster win in the discuss," said Distance Coach Tyler Alexander.
Joe Bourgeois wrapped up his high school career with a time of 9:05.33 in the 3000, which Johnson is double checking to see if it tied the school record.
