Fourth Quarter Scoring Leads NCU Over LI

December 30, 2012

LYNDON–After three close quarters, the North Country girl's basketball team shook loose for seventeen fourth quarter points en-route to a 42-25 win over the Lyndon Institute Vikings.
The Falcons weren't helped out at all by the officials, as they had four players with four fouls by game’s end.
"It is tough to adjust to officials when they change the way they are calling the game mid-way through," mused coach Christiane Brown.
Early on, the refs were letting the girls play a fairly physical style of B-ball, but by the end, as Brown puts it, "they were calling some real ticky-tack stuff."
Michaela Stanley, Anna Bingham, Hollie Smith and Desiree Coffin were the four players in foul trouble for the Falcons.
The one starter who did not reach the four-foul marker was Britni Jewer, who fell just shy of the double-double, scoring nine while grabbing eleven boards.
"This was Britni's best game of the year," said Brown. "She did a tremendous job and I am especially happy with her defense and her rebounding."
Coffin led North Country in scoring with thirteen points, and added six steals.
Bingham had ten points and eight steals, while Stanley had six rebounds.
The win moves the girls to 3-0, while LI stands at 0-4.
Next on the schedule is a trip to Jericho to face Mount Mansfield on Thursday.
Tip-off is at 6:30.
