NEWPORT, VT - Area artists and artisans have been busy creating paintings on eight-foot tall panels to enhance the Community Christmas Dinner.
Tim Daley, who is the host and producer of the event, had a vision to make this year's dinner spectacular. Working in collaboration with the Wooden Horse Arts Guild, well known artist Adrien "Yellow" Patenaude of Newport, a host of volunteer artists, the Area Agency on Aging, and area businesses, the vision is becoming a reality.
The 28th Annual Esther and Reynold Choiniere Christmas Dinner, named in honor the former long-time hosts, will be held Christmas Day at the American Legion Post 21 in Newport.
Daley approached Adrien Yellow with his idea for the event, then took photos of different locations. Adrien created illustrations that he projected onto large panels and, from there, artists painted the scenes, Adrien said in an interview Thursday.
The paintings, which depict area scenes and the businesses that sponsor the event, will be placed around the room at the Legion.
The dinner and dessert is open to all regardless of age or income. There will be lights, decorations, and a tree. Entertainer Mark Shelton will be present and lead carols.
"The decorations are worth the visit and the company will warm your heart. Don't spend Christmas alone, spend it with us. If you are spending it with someone, consider stopping by for a dessert," Daley said in a note.
"Dinner is open to all people who believe in sharing the joy and love of Christmas-together," Daley added.
