BARTON – On Dec. 6, 2011, Nicole and Justin Matten’s seven-year-old daughter Kaylynne Matten died. Nicole Matten blames her daughter’s death to a reaction from the flu vaccine she received days before.
Since Kaylynne’s passing, the Mattens’ world has been turned upside down. The couple is going through a divorce and Nicole’s home is in foreclosure.
“We’re just trying to raise enough money to stop the foreclosure proceedings and get a loan modification so we can keep the house so the kids don’t have to go through any more devastating changes,” Nicole said Wednesday.
Nicole has a website where she hopes to raise some money online. Matten’s cousins Jennifer Garneau and Ashley Montague are holding a benefit dance Saturday, March 2, at Trifecta Lounge in Irasburg, from 7 p.m. until close.
The last full mortgage payment was made to the bank in April, when Matten had her baby. Nicole said she and Justin also separated that month.
