HISTORY STUDENTS EXAMINE CANCER

NEWPORT – Students across the Northeast Kingdom are getting ready for the annual NEK History Day event. A group of sixth grade students from Brighton Elementary School are working on a breast cancer exhibit and presentation that will go on display at IROC.
The theme of this year's competition is Turning Points in History: People, Ideas, Events. The group is focusing on how cancer awareness, particularly breast cancer, has changed the world.
The students met with oncologist Dr. Leslie Lockridge, who runs a private practice in Newport for cancer patients and is a primary care provider. The students needed to conduct interviews and chose Lockridge and two cancer patients.
