CABOT–The UCA Girls picked up their fourth win of the season while the Crusader boys loss their third of the year as the two teams earned a split on Monday evening.
For the girls, it was a well-rounded effort, utilizing their triangle and two defense to shut down the Cabot bigs while getting offense from multiple players in their 39-38 win.
“Our play movement was the best it has been all year and the balance of scoring was nice to see,” said coach Molly Smith.
Laura Libby had ten points while Christina Maxwell and Olivia Foster each had nine.
With Amy DeLaBruere out sick, Whitney Carter stepped up and her best game of the season for the Lady Crusaders, who moved to 4-9 for the year.
Speaking of DeLaBruere’s, the boys may be without Jon DeLaBruere for the remainder of the season as his shoulder, which was injured while he was playing goalie this past soccer season, finally gave out early in the game, forcing the team to play without their defensive play-caller.
With the big man on the bench, Cabot was able to earn the 60-52 win.
Chris DeLaBruere’s outside game continues to shine bright as he had another six three pointers for the Crusaders against the Huskies.
The boys now stand at 9-3, and both teams will ready themselves for a trip to Franklin County this afternoon to take on Richford.
The action begins with the girl’s game at 5:30, followed by the boys.
