JAY-IT was not the prettiest of wins, but the North Country girls will take it, as they beat Hartford 4-2 on Monday evening.
All six goals were scored in the third period, with Hartford's Meghan Boardman getting the Hurricanes on the board first.
Savannah Alberghini-Giroux immediately tied the game on the very next shift, followed by two goals by Jenna Moss to make it 3-1 North Country.
Whitney Bernier upped the lead to 4-1 when her attempt at an empty net goal was blocked by a thrown stick, which automatically gave her the goal.
Boardman added another one late, but it was not enough, and the Falcons escaped with the win. North Country will be back in action on Saturday when the travel to take on CVU/SBHS in South Burlington. Puck drops at 6:15.
