NC Boys Struggle in Loss to BFA St. Albans

December 30, 2012

NEWPORT–BFA St. Albans completed the season sweep over the North Country boy's basketball team on Saturday, defeating the Falcons 88-63 to move to 2-3 in 2012.
"We struggled in every facet of the game," said NCU coach Brian Bonvechio. "It was a very tough outing to say the least."
At one point the game was tied 11-11, but the Bobwhites went on a mad tear, and at the break, they were up 49-2.
In the second half they salted it away to put the Falcons' record at 1-4.
North Country has a had a myriad of challenges facing them this season, including game cancellations, practice cancellations, and an over all lack of time in the gym.
Said Bonvechio, "It is tough to get any continuity when you are not in the gym a lot.
"We are a young team, and a young team needs to spend more time together on the court in order to gain that level of comfort and confidence a team needs to find success."
A few bright spots for the Falcons were Rejean Roberge and Kendrick Gray.
Gray had fourteen points to lead the team in scoring, while Roberge displayed a hard-nosed style that caught his coaches attention.
"Kendrick is turning into a much better player and is starting to feel more comfortable at this level," Bonvechio said. "Rejean played very aggressively, attacking the boards and earning himself some more minutes in the future, that is for sure."
North Country will go for win number two on Thursday when they host another Academy, this time the one from St. Johnsbury, as the Hilltoppers come to town to square of against the Falcons at 6:30.
