NEWPORT - A public meeting will be held Feb. 20, starting at 6 p.m. at the North Country Career Center in its first step toward planning for the future vocational needs of young and adult students.
âI don't want to lead this process,â states Illuzzi. âThe community's input will be the basis for developing a plan for everyone to use the facility. It is important to articulate goals, to develop new learning skills, learn what future courses may be offered, what businesses are looking for.â
While the career center is viewed as an extension of the high school, it is a separate entity with a vigorous array of evening classes that are offered to adults in the community. These classes provide industry specific courses and training and basic skill enrichment, which enable adults to enhance their skills and job prospects.
