EAST BURKEâ€“The North Country Nordic girls closed out the regular season on a high note, taking first overall at the Lyndon Institute hosted race on the Kingdom Trails of Burke Mountain.
Haley-Jo Tetreault and Lindsay Cotnoir were neck and neck battling for second place, and it was Tetreault who edged out Cotnoir by two seconds, finishing with a time of 22:03.
Senior Erika Fortin's 24:00 was good enough for seventh place, and she was followed by a pair of sophomores, Adele Woodmansee in tenth, and Jane Dandurand in eleventh.
Laura Smith and Brianna Grimm rounded out the rest of the Falcons, as the two came in sixteenth and nineteenth respectively.
On the boys side, the team came away with a fourth place finish overall, with Brian DeLaBruere having the best time of any Falcon, wrapping up his day in 18:29.
Jon Trembley was next across the line for North Country in eleventh, and freshman Alex Cotnoir was seven seconds behind Trembley in thirteenth.
Sam Brunnette locked up the number eighteen spot with a time of 22:18, Alex Charboneau was the last Falcon in the top twenty, as he placed twentieth.
Harry Foster and senior Trevor Howell were in twenty-fourth and twenty-seventh.
For Howell, Cotnoir, Fortin, this was their last regular season race, as the team will lose this trio to graduation in the spring.
But way before that there is the matter of the State competitions which begin today Freeâ€™s, and will continue next Tuesday with the Classic.
