NEWPORT–The North Country Falcons hosted their second of two track meets on Wednesday afternoon, welcoming in Lake Region, Oxbow, MVU, Enosburg and BFA Fairfax.
It ended up being a great day for the NCU girls and pretty good day for the boys, as the Falcon girls won the women's meet, and the boys took second.
Oxbow's boys team edged out North Country by six points to grab first place.
Lake Region's squads both took home third place finishes.
Dennis Newland, who recently broke the school's long jump record in Burlington, talked about the accomplishment prior to taking part in the event at North Country.
"I have been chasing it since last year," Newland said about the record. "Last year I was three inches off and I have been working on getting height in practice because I wasn't getting enough, and I had one big jump, and I could tell that it was the one."
