NEWPORT-The North Country boys tennis team returned to action on Monday after their spring break.
Their opponent on this lightly overcast day was the Middlebury Tigers, and it was the visiting squad coming up with the 4-3 win to improve to 1-1 on the year.
The play on Monday was actually quite even, but having to forfeit the number two doubles match is what did the Falcons in on this day, as it was the deciding factor in the match.
"It was kind of a familiar pattern (today)," said NCU coach Gary Atchinson. "Every match that we have played has been 4-3, and we have won just one of those, so that is kind of the plight we are in right now.
"We are waiting for the newcomers to improve, and they are, and we are banking on the four seniors to play as well they can to their ability and hopefully we can pull those out."
