OEC Kings Split in Season Opening Doubleheader

MONTPELIER VT-- The OEC Kings won game one of their double header at Montpelier High School against Post #3 by a score of 12-0 in five innings.
Danville's Brett Elliott picked up the win, going four innings and allowing three hits. Saint Johnsbury's Chris Connolly pitched a scoreless fifth inning to close things out.
On offense for the Kings, Lyndon's Davis Guyer went 2 for 3 with a double and triple while driving in four runs. North Country's Wyatt Prue doubled, drove in two runs, and scored three times.
For Montpelier's Post #3, Dylan Watts was charged with the loss, giving up 12 runs, 9 of them earned in 2 and 2/3 innings.
I game two, the Kings couldn't keep the bats going, as they fell 8-3 to Post #3 in game two.
Davis Guyer took the loss, throwing two innings and allowing four earned runs. Wyatt Prue came on in relief, throwing four innings while allowing four hits and allowing four runs, three of them earned.
At the plate for the Kings, Prue led the attack with two hits and a walk. Saint Johnsbury's Zach Hale added a double and a walk, as well as a run.
For Montpelier's Post #3, Josh Kennison picked up the win, throwing a complete game while allowing three runs, all earned, on eight hits.
The Kings drew six walks on the day, but couldn't capitalize as they stranded nine runners on base.
The Kings are off until next Saturday, June 21, when they take on the Colchester Cannons at Colchester High School in a double header that starts at 11 a.m.
