NEWPORT CITY – Each year, tens of thousands of people lose their lives to suicide. Saturday morning, over 100 people gathered in Gardner Park for the annual Out of the Darkness Walk, sponsored by The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).
The purpose of the walk is to bring light to the issue of suicide, said Mary Butler. Butler spoke about her trip to Newport Saturday morning and seeing the sunlight in the night sky.
