NEWPORT, VT - A winter storm warning was issued for the region from Monday at midnight through 8 a.m. Wednesday. The warning is for Eastern Adirondack Mountains, Champlain Valley, and all of Central and Northern Vermont.
The National Weather Service predicts the storm will drop 10 to 14 inches of snow with one to two inches per hour.
"A difficult morning and evening commute is expected today," states the National Weather Service. "Gusty southeast winds combined with heavy wet snow could bring down tree limbs and produce scattered power outages."
The newspaper started receiving reports of school closings and meeting cancellations Monday afternoon.
