Owner of Dead Cows Denies They Starved

Don Steele, the owner of a barn where more than a dozen cows died refutes allegations that the family let the animals starve to death.
Town Animal Control Officer Geoff Falconer said late last week that it appeared the cows starved and were found frozen to death.
"No cow on my farm ever went hungry or without water," said Steele during a telephone interview Saturday. However, he does not deny that about 20 animals died on the farm within a 30-day period between December and January. "The cattle died of exposure."
