Police Seek 911 Caller Following Report of Gunman

NEWPORT, VT - Six people were evacuated from their homes and police closed off a Newport City street after they received a 911 call about a man with a gun at 65 Pleasant Street last evening.
However, an extensive search turned up no gunman.
The Vermont State Police, the Orleans County Sheriff's Office and Border Patrol assisted at the scene. Anyone with information about the identity of the caller is asked to call city police at 334-6733.
