NEWPORT, VT - Newport City School Principal Stephen Earley lived up to his end of the bargain by dressing in a costume made of paper dolphins after his students won a bet started at the beginning of the school year.
To encourage good behavior, students were awarded paper cutout dolphins, which are strung together throughout the school.
The students took on the challenge with such gusto that by the end of the school year the string of dolphins extended around the entire inside of the school building, including wrapping around the walls of every classroom. In total, the students received 6,152 commendations, beating the goal of 6000.
By winning, the students voted as their reward to have Principal Earley wear a dress-styled outfit of the dolphins. As an added touch, his fingernails were painted a lovely baby blue and pale pink combo.
