SOUTH BURLINGTON–The North Country Girls Golf Team competed at Vermont Nationals in South Burlington on Wednesday, May 11. Coach Brian Hampton brought Bailey Walker and Eilish Muir.
Junior Bailey Walker, who is in her third year of golf, had a rough game overall during the competition.
“I don’t really know where I was going wrong,” said Walker, “It just took me a long time to get on the green.”
Walker finished the 9th hole strong with an off the green putt for par. Her teammate, Eilish Muir, also a junior, had trouble chipping and putting.
“The course was really difficult,” said Muir.
“Her best performance of day was on the driving range,” Coach Hampton commented.
Both players were reluctant to disclose their scores. Competition aside, the girls agree that it was a good day.
North Country’s Girls Team will play Thursday at Enosburg. They will be joined by rookie Allison Greenwood who is new to the sport. Lily Markwell, the fourth member of the team, is hoping to play her first match of the season on Monday at their home match.
