ORLEANS – The American's Veterans’ Honor Guard's sole purpose is to give all military veterans their salute and arms.
"It is our honor and privilege to provide this service to our fellow veterans and their families," states the organization's website.
The American Legion Orleans Post #23 is one of two local veterans' organizations that provide the service with the Vermont National Guard. The second is the Island Pond Post.
"We provide the firing detail and flag detail," said Pete Bell, coordinator for the Orleans Post Honors Team. "We always bring the American Flag, the appropriate service flag. We present the grave marker and flag to the family."
