COVENTRY - Following the ice storm in late December, Dale Perron, head of District 9 for the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTRANS), decided a quick cleanup was in order.
A controversy arose when a 3.6-mile stretch along Route 5 south of Newport City in the Coventry was cleared of storm damage.
Property owners objected to the work because they were not notified previously, and the wood was collected by VTRANS and delivered to state garages in the area to heat the buildings.
