NEWPORT-Basketball camp on a warm July week has become a tradition in the town of Newport.
What started out as the Lake Mephremaggog Basketball Camp forty-four years has ago has evolved into the Vermont Triple Threat Basketball Camp, and under the direction of of John Gunn, the program is as strong as ever.
Gunn, who started with program as a coach in the 1990's and has since moved on to be a director in the new millennium, explained the camp's mission when it comes to teaching the game of basketball.
"We are looking to match kids up, not just by age, but by ability and we are more of an instructional camp so we are looking to teach the skills of the game and the approach to the game, not just the game play itself."
