DANVILLE–Using a balanced attack with multiple offensive outlets, Lake Region's Lady Rangers defeated Danville 3-1 on Monday afternoon.
"I'm really happy about getting offensive production from multiple players," said coach Brad Urie. "Danville is always up for their games with us, but we were beating people to the ball and we got a lot of good minutes from everyone on the field."
Back from her race with the cross-country team, Haley Kennedy opened the scoring for Lake Region, firing home a direct kick from forty yards out with 22:46 left to play in the first.
Tyrah Urie kept up her hot pace, scoring her 11th goal of the season with five minutes left in the half.
Celeste Lussier hit Tyrah with an excellent pass, and Urie had little trouble finding the back of the net.
"This was the best game that Celeste has played for me in her entire career," said coach Urie.
Tyrah Urie now has 32 goals just five games into her second varsity season, and if she scores again today, she will tie Paige Wells for second all-time on the Lake Region career goals list in girl's soccer.
Abbey Lalime holds the record for goals scored in girl's soccer with 36, a total that will likely be eclipsed in the coming games.
Eleven minutes in the second half Urie charged down the right side of the field and sent a cross to Megan Menard who neatly deposited it into the goal.
Coach Urie, pleased with the offense, was also impressed with efforts of his mid-fielders.
"Drew Neal, Sabrina Roberge and Sarah Burnham all had a strong showing for us," he said.
Now standing at 5-0, Lake Region looks to go to 6-0 this afternoon when they host Oxbow at 4:30.
