Veteran Lakers Take Advantage of Falcons’ Youth
NEWPORT-Colchester hurler Emi Eakin was on her game, as she tossed a three hitter striking out 16 Falcons during her team’s 12-0 blanking of NCU. Eakin struck out the side in the first, fourth and sixth inning. North Country shortstop Anna Bingham had Eakin’s number however as she pounded out a pair of hits and drew a walk in her other at bat.NCU’s sophomore catcher Victoria Kinney blasted the other Falcon hit hitting the ball in the gap between the center fielder and right fielder. Kinney had solid game behind the plate, as she used her snap throws to keep the Colchester (8-2) runners in check.Falcon hurler Rebecca Murray hung in there for North Country (2-7) despite being hit by a line drive early in the game. The sophomore had trouble at times with the strike zone, but stayed the course for the full seven innings, getting valuable experience. The young Falcons, who have only Anna Bingham as a senior, have shown steady improvement. Under the guidance of patient head coach Leslie Dunn, North Country will be heard from in the near future.
