DERBY - At a joint legislator/educator summit held March 31 at Lake Region Union High School focused primarily on school related issues. School choice, funding for small schools, governance, and construction aid highlighted the discussion. At one point Representative Mark Higley raised a different subject, based on some discussions in Montpelier.
“There’s an amendment on the tax bill that will fund a study to see how much revenue the state can realize if marijuana is legalized,” offered Higley. “The study would also consider savings in law enforcement costs and on the court system.”
Please see The Newport Daily Express Friday to learn what educators though of the proposal.
