DERBY - The race is on for the Derby Select Board this year. At Town Meeting time in March voters will decide if they want to keep long-time member Laura Dolgin or opt for a new person, Maureen Fountain.
Both Dolgin and Fountain are seeking a two-year seat. Long-time member Karen Jenne is not seeking re-election on the board and instead is vying for the town clerk and treasurer position.
Jenne is leaving a three-year seat open with two candidates, Grant Spates, and Vicky Farrand-Lewis hoping to win that seat on the board.
Maureen Fountain has lived in Derby for over 30 years and she loves the town. A desire for public service is ingrained in who she is; her father was in public office for 35 years in Burlington.
“I must have absorbed his values and interest in politics,” she said.
