BARRE-They fought the good fight, but in the end, size and speed from Burr and Burton ended the Lake Region Rangers run, 80-62 in the Division two semi–finals Wednesday night at the legendary Barre Auditorium. The number two seeded Bulldogs erased a five point Ranger lead and went on a 20-2 tear through the second period, and LRU was never able to get any closer than eight points the rest of the evening.
The Rangers got 17 from Clint Provoncha, 13 from Caleb Prue, 12 from Drew Gallup and six from Alex Beauregard.
LRUHS shot only 9 for 19 from the foul line. B&B hit 8 three balls, compared to LR’s seven. The Bulldogs had 26 field goals to Lake Region’s 23.
The trio of seniors, all starters, will be hard to replace. Drew Gallup, Caleb Prue and Shaquille Urie. They cupboard is full however, and chances are Lake Region will be a contender again next season as they chase the elusive state title once more.
