JAY – A five-year-old girl was severely injured at Jay Peak last season and now her father is suing. The child was in a group ski lesson at the resort in April on a trail called the Interstate. A snowboarder, William Vincent, came down the hill at about 50 mph and slammed into the girl, a witness said according to court records.
“While maintaining this speed, defendant Vincent snowboarded straight into the ski school class and collided violently with plaintiff, ” the lawsuit states.
The Massachusetts girl was airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center where she was treated for a lacerated liver, a partially collapsed lung, pulmonary contusion, a concussion and a need for inner ear surgery. The girl’s father, Tim Kane filed suit September 30 in U.S. District Court in Burlington and is represented by Burlington Attorney Robert Behrens. He is suing the resort, the snowboarder, Vincent of Enosburg, and Jenn Leveillee, the ski instructor.
