September 11, 2014

NEWPORT–After a slow start in the first half, the North Country field hockey team picked up their pace in the second and went on the attack, scoring two goals in twenty-three minutes to pick up the 2-0 win over the Lyndon Institute Vikings.
"We finally woke up," said NCU coach Chantelle Bouchard, referring to the difference in play between the first and the second half. "They were real flat in the beginning and we just could not get anything in the goal."
As the coach said, things were a little flat in the first half.

Brunnette, Ellis Win at Inaugural Kingdom Cup XC Meet

September 10, 2014

DERBY-The North Country Falcons held their annual home cross country meet on Wednesday afternoon, but this year it came with a little twist.
Known in years past as just the home cross country meet, this year the team re-branded the event as the Kingdom Cup.
"The Kingdom Cup is a lead in to leagues," said NCU coach Chris Shaffer. "We needed more competition up here and it is great to have more numbers for competition. Hopefully we can keep this tradition going."
With the re-branding came a new course design that will allow for a little more flexibility with course length.

Peoples Academy Shuts Out North Country 1-0

September 10, 2014

NEWPORT–The North Country Falcons just could not find to back of the net against the Peoples Academy Wolves, and a goal by the Wolves' Shawn-Dee Baird ten minutes into the second was all the visiting team needed to pick up the win.
"It was definitely a game of two halves," said NC coach James McKenny. "We were not doing what was working for us in the first half, not using the space, not playing the feet and we got into that kick and run game and it is not going to be successful anywhere you play these days.”
