The Event of the Year Award went to Vero Rancourt and Andrea Carbine for their Wednesday’s on the Waterfront. The News Media of the Year Award went to The Newport Daily Express for keeping the community informed of the daily news in Orleans County. Joe Gresser from the Chronicle received the News Correspondent of the Year.
Phil White from Kingdom Games received the Promoter of the Year Award. Kingdom Games offers more than 30 days of events that draw recreational athletes from 38 states, Canada, Mexico, as well as other countries.
The Community Advocate of the Year went to Kathy Griffin from Northeast Kingdom Community Action for her work with Hungerfest, a fundraising effort for the organization’s food shelf.
The employer of the Year Award went to James Walsh of RDI, the call center on Lakemount Road. The Manufacturer of the Year Award went to Revision Military. The Entrepreneur of the Year Award went to Steve Breault from Newport Natural Market and Café. He also manages the Gateway Center for events and he developed the Chowder Shack at the Gateway Center. Breault’s most recent business development is the Prouty House that offers lodging and catered meals for visitors, as well as a meeting place for small groups and meetings.
The Media Rep of the Year Award went to Danielle Paquin, from MOO92, JJ Country, 94.5 and WIKE-The Notch on 103.1. The Sponsor of the Year Award went to Community National Bank.
Appalachian Engineering received the Business Improvement Award. The Impact Business of The Year went to Jay Peak. The New Business of the Year award went to Erin LaPlante from the Barton Baking Company. The Retailer of The Year Award Went to the Pick and Shovel. The Sports and Recreational Retailer of the Year Award went to Walt’s Sales and Service.
Beside James, the Chamber of Commerce also elected Daniel Pellerin as vice-president, Dan Coutu as secretary and Andre Bissonnette as treasurer.
