Deer Herd Growing

Staff Writer

The deer population in Vermont is growing. The 2016 annual white-tailed deer report confirms the mild 2016 winter and nominal snow cover has increased the herd size. The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department estimates a 15 to 20 percent increase in the deer population. Harvest data from the hunting seasons totals 16,220 deer, an increase of 27 percent over 2015.
