Five Goal First Sparks Falcons in Complete Game Effort

JAY-Hockey Night in Jay opened up with the North Country girls soundly defeating a very good Northfield team 7-1 in game one of the boy-girl doubleheader on a night where it felt warmer to be inside the rink than out.The girls pumped home five first period goals, giving the coaching staff exactly what they have been looking for this season, in a very complete-team win."We were finally putting the puck in the net and I think we caught them a little flat footed," said coach Claude Paul. "They had some issues with their team today so I don't think they came out ready at the start."The win moves the Falcons to 8-3-1, good for second place in the Lake Division, four points ahead of Northfield, who stands at 7-5.The girls will open up Saturday's doubleheader with a match against Rutland in their annual 11:00 AM game at the Ice Haus. For the Full Story, Check out the Newport Daily Express on Friday 1-25-13.
