Falcons Dump U-32 5-1MONTPELIER–After going into overtime against Northfield on Saturday, the North Country girls hockey team had a much easier go of it Monday, defeating U-32 5-1."We played a much more intellectual game," said coach Paul, "Our systems are really starting to pay off, the cycle was good, and we were getting pucks where they needed to be."Taylor Morley was the top performer for the the Falcons, as she would net three to earn her first varsity hat-trick.Morley opened the scoring in the first to stake North Country to a 1-0 lead. Corrina Cota and Kerrianne Little had assists on the goal."This was Kerrianne's best game of the season. She is really starting to look comfortable out there," said Paul.Cota would leave the game after the first due to illness, but Morley stayed hot, tallying goals number two and three in the second to run the lead to 3-0 after thirty minutes. Jenna Moss and Adrianna Fournier assisted on the third goal.Moss also had three points on the afternoon, as she would rap in the final two goals for the Falcons in the third.Tara Langmaid had twelve saves in the contest.Next on the schedule will be tomorrow's trip to Highgate to face off against the MVU Thunderbirds.LR J/V Girls Remain UnbeatenThe LR JV Girls ran their season record to 7-0 Saturday upending Division I Burr and Burton 39-29 in a game played at Windsor High School. The week-long exam period and two-hour bus ride seemed to have the Rangers out of sorts in the early going as they struggled to find their rhythm and found themselves trailing 9-4 after 8 minutes of play. Pressure defense led to a string of easy baskets in the second quarter and the Rangers 14-6 run put them up 18-15 at the break. The Rangers came out of the locker room and picked up where they left off putting the game out of reach with a strong third quarter run. Tyrah Urie led ten Rangers in the scorebook with 10 points while Emily Lawson pulled down 8 rebounds. The Rangers visit Enosburg on Tuesday, January 17 before returning home for a date with Richford Thursday the 19th, both games at 5:30 p.m.
